Jane Pepper, president of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, will be the guest speaker at the Press Club luncheon on Wednesday, December 16th at the Edgmont Country Club. Ms. Pepper took over the reins of the182-year-old Society in 1981.
She oversees the Society’s activities and programs, including the renowned Philadelphia Flower Show
and Philadelphia Green, a national model for neighborhood revitalization.
Under Pepper’s guidance and tenure,
the organization has become a leading voice in regional greening initiatives. In 2009, The Philadelphia Flower Show grew into a
new name - it is now known as the Philadelphia International Flower Show as it has achieved national and international stature. It is the largest and most prestigious indoor flower show in the world, and enjoys an unprecedented level of participation and attention.
The Philadelphia International Flower Show hosts more than a quarter million visitors from around the country and overseas each year.
Jane Pepper’s book provides a month by month guide to gardening. According to Press Club
President Barbara Zippi, a novice first year gardener this past season, “I found the courage to experiment and achieved
exciting results from the excellent pages of valuable information by Jane Pepper." The book entitled Jane Pepper's Garden will be available for purchase and signing.
