Highly acclaimed author George Anastasia will make a return visit to The Press Club on Wednesday, April 20th at 12 noon at the Edgmont Country Club, West Chester Pike, Edgmont. Doors open 11:45a.m. for registration and networking.
Back by popular demand, Anastasia, a veteran reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer, is the author of five books of nonfiction, including Blood and Honor, which Jimmy Breslin called the "best gangster book ever written." He is the grandson of Sicilian immigrants who settled in South Philadelphia. The journalist has been writing about organized and disorganized crime for thirty-five years, covering casino gambling in Atlantic City, mob hits in Philadelphia and criminal prosecutions throughout the country.
He also has been featured on several network television news magazine reports about organized crime and has worked as a consultant on projects for ABC, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel and National Geographic and is frequently featured on MyFoxPhilly’s MobTalk.
Anastasia has won many awards for investigative journalism and magazine writing, has twice been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and won the coveted Sigma Delta Chi Award for magazine reporting for his coverage of the Thomas Capano-Anne Marie Fahey murder.
