A Note From Our President
August 22, 2014
With the change of seasons, we usually look forward to many new and exciting things in our lives. Hopefully, members of The Press Club look forward to another exciting year of getting together at luncheons and other special events, hearing interesting speakers, networking and meeting new people and other professionals in their fields, and continuing membership in a club that brings unique, one-of-a-kind opportunities all year long.
Annual membership dues are a bargain when you consider the priceless opportunities afforded to members.

Last year, members met and were entertained by many notable speakers including NBC10’s Terry Ruggles, CBS3’s Jim Donovan, former sports anchor Bill Vargus, Lenfest Broadcasting’s Jon Gorchow and Dawn Stensland and Broadway star Andrea McArdle. Additionally, the club took an exclusive behind-the-scenes bus trip to Channel 3 Studios in Philly, led by consumer reporter Jim Donovan, where we saw parts of the studio usually unavailable to the general public. Afterwards, we lunched at the historic LeBec Fin on the day before it closed its doors.
In past few years, we’ve traveled several times to the National Press Club in Washington DC Membership in our club automatically makes you a reciprocal member of the National Club. We were fortunate to have Dolly Parton, Arianna Huffington, and AOL executive director/CEO Tim Armstrong as speakers on those trips. The Press Club also held behind-the-scenes trips to PPL Park in Chester, Sun Center Studios in Aston and the Lansdowne Theater in Lansdowne, to name only a few.
The Press Club occasionally runs professional workshops, most recently in social media and blogging. This fall, The Press Club Board will host a networking happy hour event, in addition to other exciting dates planned throughout the upcoming year.
Remember, The Press Club is YOUR club so try to get involved this year. Vow to attend luncheons, join committees, and sign up for field trips. Like every club, the experience is what you make it and getting involved helps to make it special and rewarding.
I hope to see you in September and look forward to a wonderful, inspiring, very interesting year. Thank you again for allowing me to serve as your president.
