End-of-Season Luncheon with Richard Pagano

Enjoy an end-of-season luncheon with sportswriter, author, Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame inductee, and host of "Sports Legends" at MLTV-Main Line Network, Richard Pagano.

Rich will talk all things sports including the history of the athletes and coaches that have contributed to Delaware County's sporting past; his distinguished career in sports media; his role in establishing and organizing the Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum in Radnor Township; and his books, “Delaware County Sports Legends” and “The Baron of Leiperville: The Life and Times of James F. Dougherty.”

About the Speaker:

Rich Pagano has written over 1,700 columns on past sports personalities of Delaware County for Town Talk Newspapers and the News of Delaware County. His column is well-read and has appeared weekly for over 33 years.

He wrote and published two books: "Delaware County Sports Legends," which showcases over 230 photographs that reveal the athletes and coaches that have contributed so much to Delaware County's sporting past; and "The Baron of Leiperville: The Life and Times of James F. Dougherty," a biography covering the life of Jimmy "Baron" Dougherty, the larger than life sportsman whose hotel, bar, and fight arena in Leiperville, was a mecca for boxing from 1916 to 1947.

He has received numerous awards and honors and is both a Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame and Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame: Delaware County Chapter inductee and Ridley Old-Timers "Outstanding Sportsman of the Year."

He was a Health and Physical Education teacher in the Upper Darby School District for 36 years before retiring in 2010. During that time, he established a gymnastic club which performed annually; coached the school’s Special Olympics and Marine Corp. physical fitness teams; and coached gymnastics at Upper Darby High School, where he led teams to win the Central League championship and three District One titles.

Rich serves on the board of directors for the Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame, Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame: Delaware County Chapter, Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum, and the Ridley Township Old-Timers. He is also on the Board of Trustees of the Sturzebecker Foundation at West Chester University.

He is a member of the prestigious International Society of Olympic Historians and he is also listed on the International Directory of researchers involved in the study of Olympism in Lausanne, Switzerland.
