In 2016, Young's book received a Preservation in Publication Award from the Heritage Commission of Delaware County. Her article, Dr. Mary Engle Pennington, Refrigeration and Frozen Food Pioneer, was published in the February 2020 issue of Muse magazine, a division of Cricket Media. She has written history articles for the Chester County Day newspaper since 2008. Young is a board member of the National Collaborative for Women's History Sites and currently serves as its Secretary. She is a member of numerous historical societies in Chester and Delaware counties.
A portion of the proceeds will serve as a donation in support of the Pennsylvania Historical Marker Program. The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission administers a program of historical markers to capture the memory of people, places, events, and innovations that have affected the lives of Pennsylvanians over the centuries since William Penn founded his Commonwealth. More than 2,000 cast aluminum markers tell the important and interesting stories that are part of the history of Pennsylvania.
