About the Event

Join the Delaware County Press Club for a Books & Brunch Author Showcase at Jamey’s House of Music!

The program features five of the Press Club’s published authors.

Covering a variety of genres, participating authors include:

Doreen McGettigan - Doreen started her writing career as a feature writer for Philadelphia area newspapers. She is a ghostwriter, speaker, author, and award-winning blogger. As president of Intrepid Marketing Inc., she consults and coaches on writing, publishing, and marketing. Her book, “The Stranger in My Recliner,” is the true story of a Delaware County couple who took in and cared for Sophie, an eighty-year-old homeless woman, for three years. The book highlights the lack of assistance available to those experiencing mental health issues and the trauma of homelessness.

Kathleen A. Piperno - Kathy is a partner at the Law Firm Eckell Sparks. She practices exclusively in Family Law including child support, custody, divorce, equitable distribution, protection from abuse, termination of parental rights, and adoption.  Kathy is the first female partner, Family Law Division. She is an advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves in protection from abuse matters and a Board Member of the Domestic Abuse Project. Her book, “Fearless in Heels,” is based on real-life stories of domestic abuse. Kathy brings to life the seriousness of this issue and educates so victims will gain the confidence to know they have a choice.

Joann Pierdomenico and Vincent James - Joann and Vincent are authors of the “88 Ways Music Can Change Your Life” book series, featuring stories of music’s impact on people’s lives. The 2nd Edition features over 100 inspirational stories and quotes from musicians, music educators, and music lovers from around the world, including numerous stories from Grammy winning and Platinum selling artists and composers.  The series includes two volumes “88+ Ways Music Can Change Your Life” and “88 MORE Ways Music Can Change Your Life.” The duo are also founders of Keep Music Alive, a national music education non-profit; Teach Music Week (March); and Kids Music Day (October).

Rich Pagano – Rich wrote weekly sports history columns for Town Talk and Delco Press Newspapers for 33 years and currently writes for The Spirit newspaper. His book, “The Baron of Leiperville,” is the story of James F. Dougherty, a larger-than-life sportsman whose hotel, bar, and fight arena in Leiperville, Pennsylvania, was a mecca for boxing from 1916 to 1947.

Tiffany Joyner- Tiffany is the Founder of Straight from His Plate, a Christian Writer’s Group assisting adults in the development of their literary work as a tool to minister; and Read, Write, Ignite, which empowers communities through literacy-based initiatives. Her first book, “Furry Mouse,” takes children on a creative, light-hearted fashion journey using impactful solutions in the face of fear.

Books & Brunch offers the opportunity to learn more about some of the Press Club’s authors. Authors will introduce themselves and their books at 11:30 a.m., and be available for individual discussions with guests, who may buy signed copies of the books. Brunch items from Jamey’s Blues Brunch menu will be available, accompanied by music from the Philly Blues Kings with Maci Miller, and an open mic jam (bring an instrument if you would like to join the jam!) The Blues Brunch continues until 3 p.m.

All Press Club events are open to the public. Books & Brunch guests will be responsible to purchase their own food and drinks, so there is no pre-set cost to attend. There is a $5 food or drink minimum per person. As a courtesy to the venue, please register if you plan on attending.
