About the Event

The holiday luncheon features the Press Club’s gift basket raffle, the Club’s only fundraiser. Attendees may purchase tickets for chances on gifts including restaurants, personal services, entertainment, artwork, books, Cheer Basket, and more! Proceeds from the raffle fund the Press Club Annual Award for Excellence in Communications, providing financial assistance to a student majoring in communications at one of ten colleges and universities in the Greater Delaware County area.

Uosikkinen will discuss his 40-year career drumming with The Hooters; his role in creating an online music portal, MP3.com; web development, marketing, and podcasting; teaching and mentoring music students; and his own band, David Uosikkinen’s In The Pocket. He’ll take questions from attendees after his remarks.

In addition to playing with The Hooters, Uosikkinen has recorded and performed with Alice Cooper, Rod Stewart, Cyndi Lauper, Taj Mahal, and Patty Smyth, as well as with many other artists.  He has also performed on many international tours, including Live Aid, Amnesty International, and Roger Waters’ The Wall in Berlin. When he isn’t on stage, he returns to his first love of teaching and mentoring students.

In 2010, he formed his own band, David Uosikkinen’s In The Pocket, to bring awareness to music education and pay homage to great Philadelphia music. In The Pocket features all-star Philly musicians covering classic Philadelphia tunes. In The Pocket “The Philly Special,” the latest album, will be available for purchase at the event.

All Press Club events are open to the public. Tickets for the holiday luncheon are $32 for members and $38 for nonmembers and walk-ins. Reservations are recommended but guests may also pay by cash, check, or credit card at the door.  Attendees are asked to wear masks at the event when not eating or drinking.
