Join the Delaware County Press Club for a Lunar New Year Luncheon at Margaret Kuo’s Kitchen on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at noon. Special guests are it-couple, FOX 29’s “Good Day Philadelphia” weather anchor Sue Serio and former FOX 29 sports anchor Bill Vargus!
The beloved duo has been a fixture on the scene here since their days at WHYY. Married for almost three decades, hear how their marriage has endured while being in the spotlight, about raising their daughter, and the ups and downs of the TV industry.
Serio and Vargus will take questions from attendees following their remarks.
During the program, guests will experience the culture of China with every bite as they enjoy a lunch featuring a delicious selection of Chinese specialties prepared by Delaware Valley businesswoman and entrepreneur, Margaret Kuo, a James Beard Foundation Featured Chef, and the award-winning team at Margaret Kuo’s Kitchen.

About Sue Serio
Sue Serio joined the FOX 29 News team in 1997 as weather anchor for "Good Day Philadelphia." Sue has presented forecasts outdoors in everything from blizzards and thunderstorms to wild winds at the shore. In the studio, she often shares the green screen with local children who win the opportunity to "do the weather with Sue" to benefit local charities. A career highlight: She once let movie star Mark Wahlberg do her job on the air!
Prior to joining FOX 29, Sue was co-anchor of WAKE-UP, the top-rated morning show on CBS affiliate WIVB-TV, in Buffalo, N.Y., and she co-anchored the station's "News at Noon." Prior to that, she worked at WHYY-TV 12 (PBS) in Philadelphia where she was a weather anchor and feature reporter on the evening newscast.
Sue is a cum laude graduate of Towson University in Maryland. While earning her bachelor’s degree in mass communication, she started her professional broadcasting career in radio at WMAR-FM in Baltimore. Sue then hosted numerous radio shows: WBAL in Baltimore, as midday radio host; WSTW in Wilmington, DE, as morning show co-host; WMGK in Philadelphia, where she was host and producer of the popular "Magic After Dark;" and WKSZ-FM, where she co-hosted the morning show.
A five-time Emmy nominee from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Sue was honored by the Academy in November,1994, when she received the Outstanding Individual Achievement Award for weathercaster. In June 1995, she received the Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
Sue is active in the community, volunteering for events at the Media Theatre, Tyler Arboretum, the SPCA, and many more. She is also the Co-Chair for the local Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk. She has served on the Board of the Camden Children's Garden and is on the Advisory Board of the Main Line Animal Rescue.
About Bill Vargus
Former FOX 29 sports anchor Bill Vargus began his career as a news anchor but it was in television where he spent most of his broadcasting career.
His first on-air TV job as sports anchor was for WHYY's Delaware News. He followed that with a stint at CBS affiliate WIVB-TV in Buffalo, NY, at the same station where Sue was working on the morning show. In 1997, Bill accepted the position of weekend sports anchor at FOX29 and shortly after, Sue landed the morning weather there.
A 1980 Temple University graduate, he's been nominated for five Emmy awards.
He currently owns Proper Property, Inc., a franchise of Homevestors, aka "We Buy Ugly Houses. com."
He loves sports, especially football and boxing.
